THUNDERSTORM and Rains to persist in S. Luzon, VisMin due to ITCZ

Most of the country will continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers due to the prevalence of intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said on Saturday morning, Oct. 8.

ITCZ or the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres will bring scattered rain showers in Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration

Due to the prevalence of this weather system, residents of Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Palawan were particularly warned of cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the combined effects of ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

The state weather bureau warned the public to be vigilant against possible flash floods and landslides during heavy rains or severe thunderstorms that may be caused by ITCZ.
